About
Pharmaceutical Analysis deals with qualitative and quantitative analysis of drugs and pharmaceuticals. The Department is engaged in imparting knowledge in the field of modern instrumental techniques for B.Pharm, Pharm.D and all branches of M.Pharm. The department is actively involved in developing new analytical methods and their validation for the quantitative estimation of possible impurities in various dosage forms. In the area of research, the Department is involved in identity, purity, content and stability of starting materials, excipients and active pharmaceutical ingredients. The department is actively involved in the method development of synthetic and natural drugs, pharmacokinetic studies, TDM studies, stability studies, elucidation of newly synthesized drugs using infrared spectroscopy, UV. The Department is collaborated with other departments of the institution for research activities. The department of pharmaceutical analysis has the modern equipments with good infrastructure facilities. Analysis of drugs and pharmaceuticals forms the backbone of research and development in pharmaceutical industry.

Projects Carried out:

· Development and validation of analytical methods for single and multi component drugs in raw materials and their formulations using UV Spectrophotometer.
· Spectrophotometric quantitation of drugs in bulk and pharmaceutical formulation using multivariate technique.
· Development and validation of stability indicating assay UV spectroscopic methods for the estimation of drugs in bulk and formulations.
· Visible spectroscopic methods for the estimation of drugs.
· Estimation of functional groups by FT – IR.
· Estimation of drugs using various titrimetric methods.
· Development and validation of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic models of certain new formulations.
· Development and validation of analytical methods for detection and quantification of food marker compounds in food products.
· Analysis of Drug Impurities/ impurity profiling of drug substances.
· Developing newer analytical method for drugs in formulations and Biological fluids.
· Standardization of the herbal products by HPLC.
· Estimation of Na, K and Ca ions using flame photometry in biological samples.
